The Importance of Play

We believe that every child has the right to play, and we’re here to make that happen — one fun experience at a time.

At the heart of everything we do is PLAY!

It's more than just fun — it’s foundational.

Every giggle, muddy puddle splash, and bug hunt helps children to grow in ways that will benefit them throughout their lives.

Why do children play?

Play comes naturally to children - it is instinctive! Children are drawn to exploring, experimenting, and imagining — without being told or taught. It’s their way of learning about themselves and the world around them.

Through play, children are able to...

Discover what they like ...and don’t! Learn to take safe risks (like jumping from a log). Regulate their emotions, thoughts and behaviour. Building relationships and social skills. Learn language, movement, problem-solving

Images of children playing in different ways

Children understand more deeply when they do something — not just watch it. Planting a seed teaches more than any video ever could. At 50 Things we understand the importance of children having these real-world experiences, that is why all of our activities are screen-free!

Our playful promise
