Our National Campaigns
At 50 Things To Do Before You're Five, our work goes beyond activities and resources. We campaign at a national level to shape the conversation around early childhood development - working with local authorities, health professionals, early years practitioners and families to drive meaningful change for children under five across the UK.
Our campaigns are rooted in evidence, designed for impact, and built around a simple belief: that the earliest years of a child's life matter more than any other. From tackling the growing screen time crisis to supporting local authorities to deliver on their Best Start in Life priorities, everything we do is focused on giving every child the best possible start.

Local authorities across England are working to deliver on Best Start in Life priorities and 50 Things To Do Before You're Five is helping them do it. Our Small Steps, Big Futures campaign demonstrates how a simple, play-based approach can strengthen early years systems, support families and break the link between background and future success. Now reaching over 750,000 children across 23 localities, with the Best Start in Life Match Fund offering a timely opportunity to invest.

Screens are everywhere - but for children under five, too much screen time is having a measurable impact on speech and language development, sleep, emotional regulation, physical activity and eyesight. Our Less Screen Time, More Play Time campaign supports families and early years practitioners to swap screens for play, with free resources, downloadable guides and evidence-based advice.
